Corporate History

From fabric and wood
to innovative textiles and aluminium

The story of RÖDER, a prominent name in the marquee and industrial hall technology industry, begins in 1959. Founded by Heinz Röder in Büdingen - Wolferborn, Germany, the company initially specialised in the design of easy-to-assemble party and event tents for local and regional festivals. In the beginning, the tent frames were made of wood. Very early on, in 1964, RÖDER started the series production of tents with polyester and blended fabric tarpaulins.

With the production and rental of steel-frame tents, RÖDER began to focus on innovative products in the field of tent construction. In the seventies, the first self-supporting large aluminium tent marked a significant change in the tent sector. RÖDER expanded its product range to include a wide range of tent solutions such as double-deck tents for Formula One and other major sporting events.

In the 1980s, the company underwent a significant branding change with the acquisition of various companies, the expansion of foreign business in Europe and Asia, and the IPO in 1991. Today, despite the changes in the various stakeholder structures in the past, RÖDER remains committed to its customers around the world.

With its new shareholder, RAG Stiftungs Beteiligungs GmbH since 2015, the company has established itself as a global market player for tent systems with around 600 employees worldwide. The company offers a wide range of tent solutions.
