Temperature-Sensitive Goods

Storing temperature-sensitive goods poses particular challenges for companies. The right storage technology is crucial for the quality and safety of the goods, for example food, medicines or other sensitive products. In our reference project, we explain how these goods are optimally stored, what needs to be considered in a lightweight warehouse, which site conditions are relevant for the beverage industry and what advantages a lightweight warehouse offers beverage manufacturers.

Optimum storage of temperature-sensitive goods

Temperature-sensitive goods require special storage conditions in order to guarantee their quality and shelf life. Some decisive factors are

  • Humidity control: Controlling humidity prevents mould growth and spoilage.
  • Insulation: Good insulation of the warehouse minimises temperature fluctuations and keeps the environment stable.
  • Monitoring: Sensors and monitoring systems allow continuous control of temperature and humidity.
  • Hygiene: High hygiene standards are essential to avoid contamination.

Important aspects when building a lightweight warehouse

Temperature-sensitive goods can also be stored in a lightweight warehouse. A lightweight warehouse offers many advantages, but important aspects must also be taken into account during construction and operation:

The statics and stability of the building must be guaranteed even in extreme weather conditions. The building must have efficient insulation to ensure temperature and humidity control. High-quality and durable materials must be used. All necessary building permits must be obtained and local building regulations must be adhered to. Construction and operating costs should be considered in comparison to traditional construction methods. Alternative energy sources (photovoltaics, heat pumps, etc.) are essential for production, cooling and storage.

Advantages of a lightweight hall

  • Cost savings: Lower construction costs compared to traditional construction methods.
  • Fast construction: Shorter construction times enable faster commissioning.
  • Flexibility: Lightweight halls are modular and can be easily extended or converted.
  • Efficient use: Optimum utilisation of space and adaptation to specific storage requirements such as cooling and insulation.
  • Sustainability: Environmentally friendly materials and energy-efficient systems contribute to sustainability.
  • Adaptability: The hall can be adapted to changing production or storage requirements.

Three lightweight halls for fast handling

Companies in the beverage industry benefit in particular from the advantages of a (temporary) lightweight hall. A total of three logistics halls for temperature-sensitive goods were installed for one customer in a very small space:

  • 30 m x 60 m x 5.20 m
  • 25 m x 35 m x 5.20 m
  • 15 m x 30 x 5.20 m
  • Insulated roller shutters
  • Translucent thermal roof tarpaulin
  • Insulated façade panels
  • Installation time: 17 days

Technical details

Width: 30,00 m
Length: 60,00 m
Area: 1.800,00 m²
Side height: 5,20 m
Roof: Thermal roof tarpaulin
Facade: Insulation panels

By considering the right site conditions and using modular lightweight buildings, companies can ensure the quality of their products while benefiting from the numerous advantages of lightweight construction.
